Norway and Austria will fight for gold in the Nordic Combined Mixed Team Event at JWSC

The ski jumping section of the Nordic Combined Mixed Team event was a two-horse race. Norway’s and Austria’s athletes went neck and neck with each jump, trying to create a gap for the cross-country skiing part. In the end, it was team Norway that beat team Austria by the tiniest of margins, one second.

Judging by previous days’ results, Norway is the favourite to win, since yesterday’s men’s 10km Gundersen champion, Austrian star Johannes Lamparter is not competing. Norway’s women, Marte Leinan Lund and Gyda Westvold Hansen were the two best two days ago and should be able to secure the gold.

Behind the duo, it will be Japan and Italy, about 40 seconds away, that’ll battle for bronze. Far behind are Russia and Finland that both had an unfortunate athlete disqualified in the ski jumping section.

The 15km (5km + 2,5km + 2,5km + 5km) skiing phase is scheduled to start at 13.00 local time.
